In a Distant Era, you are what you dream.

Distant Era creates fine art and custom character portraits featuring theatrical makeup, costume, props, and sets to evoke historical, fantastic, or science-fiction realities. We believe in the power of stories and the importance of personal myths to create meaning in our lives; we believe in the unlimited power of the imagination to conjure images of people and places from any past, future, or fictional reality we may dream. We believe in printing these dreams as tangible physical artworks to make the imaginary real.

Protagonist Series

Stories are the way we understand, process, and relate to the events going on around us and the many changes that life presents us.

Protagonist is a commissioned portrait series where we create a sequence of images that shows a story in three-to-five parts. For some, this is a personal art series showing them as they wish to be. For others, it's in acknowledgement or recognition of a major life event.

The first Protagonist series—The Contract—linked in the accompanying image, was a maternity session celebrating the pending birth of a first child.
