      Gen Con 2023

Fine Art Costumed Photography and Posing Workshop 2023

In this workshop and mini session, we'll learn about posing for portraits, borrowing techniques from fashion, fine art, and figure study. We'll also implement techniques from theatre and film to explore our characters and motivate our poses.

This is an active workshop where we'll be on our feet for most of the time, taking turns practicing our own poses and encouraging others. The workshops are limited to a small number of costumed attendees so that everyone has individual time to practice in front of the camera. We'll use professional studio equipment, backdrops, and lighting for high quality results in this workshop, and we'll demonstrate techniques to thrive in that environment.

Afterward, in the four-to-six weeks following Gen Con, each participant who completes a signed portfolio release will receive a beautiful, fully edited digital portrait featuring your Gen Con 2023 costume in your best pose, professionally lit, photographed, and retouched. You are free to use your final image for personal promotion. Minors who wish to attend must have their release signed by a parent or guardian.

In preparation for the workshop, please have your costume assembled and ready to be photographed, as well as any makeup you'd prefer.
