In the interest of continuing our commitment to growing the most vibrant atmosphere for theatre in the world, Distant Era offers reduced professional rates for small theaters in Chicago.
Distant Era's $210 small theatre special is intended to help small theaters to show their work, establish a professional presence, promote their art, apply for grants, and create an archive of their achievements for long-term growth. We offer the following services.
Theatre Preproduction Photography
$210 session
Distant Era photographs images for posters, postcards, and web advertisements for upcoming theatrical promotions. A preproduction photography session typically lasts about an hour and may take place in studio or on location, depending on the concept and demands of the artistic vision. Preproduction images are often conceptual and creative, made to attract audiences and garner early interest in a production.

Theatre Production Photography
$210
Distant Era photographs production images for theatre. These are typically images taken onstage during a show’s technical week, highlighting the show’s most compelling stage pictures; they serve for press releases and web promotion to advertise a show during the course of its run.
Theatre production photography is $200 and lasts roughly an hour.
An additional hour of photography—in the case of photographing an entire show, for instance—is $200.
Archival Photography

Similar to theatre production photography above an archival photography session differs in important ways. Whereas theatre production photography advertises the show, an archival session documents the production for the artists and company for the purpose of making a record of the artistic work, from costumes to lighting and set to portraits of the actors in their roles.
Archival photography is $210 and lasts an hour. An additional hour of archival photography is $200 and may include photographing a run of the show, as described in theatre production photography above.
Event Photography

Distant Era is an experienced event photographer, capturing theatre galas, parties, museum events, conferences, receptions, sporting events, live action role-playing games, religious events, and many more. For Chicago theatre, we offer reduced event rates of $200 per hour of photography.
Company Headshots
$200/person
We offer a special group rate for headshots for theatre companies at $200 per person (minimum two). Company headshots are created around the company's artistic vision rather than a uniform template. These sessions result in one headshot per person in the company, as well as a complimentary company portrait.
Alternatively, Distant Era photographs company branding sessions, showing the company at work and demonstrating their craft, from the rehearsal space to the shop. We photograph these company branding sessions starting at $200 for the first hour of photography.
