Performance

Distant Era creates images for the promotion and preservation of theatre, performance, and live events—from theatre publicity to immersive performance to archival stage, set, and costume portraiture—these stories, their moments, their memories shall not be forgotten.

Posters for the Present

Just as a spectacle draws a crowd, so can a striking image attract an audience. Sometimes this is a photographer's or artist's work with an actor; often it is a graphic designer's skillful arrangement of photographs, design elements, and text.

Distant Era makes photographs for theatrical posters, postcards, promotion, and press. Whether posted on storefront spaces, computer screens, or café walls, we aim to make windows into the worlds of these productions that inspire the wonder of the passerby.

Postcards from the Past

Live productions are either set in distant eras or pass into them, becoming stories in their own right recounted by their audiences and participants through time.

Distant Era memorializes those stories in photographs, collecting their colors, their faces, their moods. Like postcards from the past, they will not be lost but remembered, or seen afresh with new and curious eyes.

Well conceived photographs of the production's most dynamic scenes, its characters, its set, its wardrobe, and lighting are part of the physical fabric of the theater's identity, its heritage, history, and legacy—the true and lasting record of its work.
